McGrath will retire after the WC

After having not said anything about retirement plans yesterday, Aussie fast bowler Glenn McGrath has confirmed that he would be playing his last test at Sydney to end a fabulous and long lasting cricket test career.

Although he also has plans of making it to the World Cup and then eventually leaving ODI cricket too after he guides the world champions in the tournament. This would be his third consecutive appearance in a Cricket World Cup tournament. His career best also the World Cup best figures have been 7 wickets for a mere 15 runs against Namibia. His 342 wickets are the most by any Australian bowler and he is sixth on the overall list.

“The plan I had come up with Shane was he would go before Melbourne and me before Sydney, but with the hearsay and the scrutiny we wanted to get it out of the way,” he said at the MCG’s indoor nets. “Trying to deny about retiring is a bit tough, I’ve always been honest.” (Cricinfo)
